FOLLOW OUR EASY TO INSTALL GUIDE
Step One 1

Measure the door opening width

With a tape measure, measure the opening from wooden post to wooden post at the top of the garage door.

Do not measure the width of the garage door.

Step Two 2

Cut the top seal to length

Make a mark with a pencil on the Top Seal where the seal needs to be cut to fit the opening.

Using scissors first cut the flexible part of the plastic then with a hacksaw cut the rigid plastic part of the seal to size.

Step Three 3

Mark the fitting position

With the garage door shut and in the locked position, hold the Top Seal in place making sure there is a tight seal.

Then mark with a pencil under the head of the frame where the front of Top Seal is (in most cases the front of the Top Seal will be flush with the front of the frame but in cases where it is set back, mark the position with a pencil).

Step Four 4

Drill installation holes

With a pencil, make a mark approximately every 300mm along the top seal.

Using a 6mm drill bit, drill holes through the top seal where you have made marks.

Make sure you remove any excess plastic to make a clean hole.

(By creating a drilled hole that is slightly bigger than the screw allows room for the plastic top seal to expand in the summer months and contract in the cold winters.)

Step Five 5

Screw into position

With the garage door slightly open, position the Garage Door Top Seal where you have marked on the frame with a pencil.

Then put the washer over the screw and then put screw through the hole in the top seal and then fix the screw into the head of the frame.

Continue this process until the top seal is secured tightly.

(TOP TIP: When fixing the top seal, another person holding the other end of the seal while you tighten the screws, will make the task easier).

Close the garage door and make sure the door shuts and locks properly.
