GaraDry® wins inaugural King's Award for Enterprise
The King's Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, recognising and celebrating business excellence across the UK. His Majesty The King approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that Lancashire-based GaraDry® should receive the King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category this year.
GaraDry® has been honoured with the first ever King's Award for Enterprise for International Trade in recognition of three consecutive years of exceptional sales growth in overseas markets.
Managing Director, Ashley Smith, said "I'm delighted and humbled for our company to receive this accolade. It means the world to our team and receiving this acknowledgement from the King only encourages us even further to grow our business and continue designing innovative products manufactured in Great Britain."
The King's Award for Enterprise was previously known as The Queen's Awards for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His Majesty The King's desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II's by recognising outstanding UK businesses. Throughout Her Late Majesty's 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth II was committed to recognising outstanding work and acts of service by individuals and groups. By attaching His Majesty's name to these awards, The King has emphasised his desire to continue Queen Elizabeth's legacy of recognising outstanding businesses.
The Award program, now it its 57th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King's Awards Emblem for the next five years.

GaraDry® - innovative garage door threshold seals
GaraDry®, founded in 2009, operates from headquarters in Ormskirk, Lancashire where it designs, manufactures, and sells the world's largest range of threshold seals for residential garage doors and commercial doors.
The innovative garage door threshold seals are designed to form a watertight seal between a garage door and the floor up to the height of the seal, preventing wind-driven rainwater, leaves, rodents, and other debris from being blown underneath the door and into the garage in wet weather.
The products, made from environmentally friendly materials and in the United Kingdom, also look to assist with alleviating the effects of rising energy costs by reducing heat lost through gaps around the garage door, potentially reducing heating bils.
GaraDry® has become the leading manufacturer of garage door thresholds, with the largest range of products available, and continues to bring new products to market.
In 2017 a subsidiary - GaraDry LLC - was opened to handle strong interest in the products in North America. A warehouse was also set up in 2022 in Germany to fulfil EU orders following the challenges of Brexit.
Ashley added: "We are excited about the future; we will continue to work hard and increase orders in our current marketplaces. We want to explore other market territories over the coming years."
An award ceremory was held on 24th November 2023 where HRH The Duke of Gloucester paid a special visit to GaraDry to present the award and for a tour of the premises.
Also in attendance was Ashley Dalton, MP for West Lancashire, Councillor Maureen Nixon, Mayor of West Lancashire, alongside other guests.
Ashley Dalton said of the event "It is great that innovative companies like GaraDry are recognised in this way and I'm sure this will inspire them to grow even further and continue to do great things of the international stage".
Ashley Smith had earlier in the year attended Buckingham Palace to celebrate the company's achievement.
After being presented with the award by HRH The Duke of Gloucester Ashley said "We are thrilled to receive the visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester who presented out team with this award which will now take pride of place in our reception."
